Welcome to Frankfurt International School (FIS) and the U15-Soccer Cup Against Racism
As the FIS Head of School, it is my pleasure to welcome all visiting athletes, families and fans to our campus for this unique event.
At Frankfurt International School our mission informs our actions and shapes our expectations. Academic excellence resides at the center of school life, with the arts, sciences, humanities, languages, life skills and athletics all aligning in a tight orbit. Beyond this more formal learning, it is our goal to challenge students to achieve their highest potential as individuals – and as caring, honorable, and adaptable global citizens.
As an international school we celebrate cultural diversity and believe that interaction and dialogue are key for building peace and understanding among people of different backgrounds. As such, FIS is delighted to host young players from around Europe and to support this worthwhile project. We feel strongly that sport is an excellent medium to combat racism, sectarianism and other forms of discrimination.
I want to extend special thanks to FIS Alumnae Kai Kottwitz for initiating this endeavor and to the team of organizers who realized it. Recognition is also due to the coaches and parents who prepared the boys for this event, both in terms of developing their skills as athletes and in modelling the sportsmanship that brings pride to each participating team.
FIS is honored to open its doors to the young athletes participating in the U15 Soccer Cup Against Racism. I am convinced we will have an exceptional event as we compete hard, while also building empathy and understanding across the teams, regardless of their origins.
